Over the last few days, I have seen the sales ranking of ASIAN HAZE on the Kobo e-book web site go from around #13,000 in the Mystery & Suspense category to #191 or so, and in the sub-category of Mystery & Suspense, International from #416 to #3 (and perhaps higher, for all I know. I'm waiting to hear something more definitive on whether it might have went to #1 or #2 when I wasn't able to personally check it out). It's been thrilling, amazing, shocking, bizarre, unreal, mind-blowing . . . I could use a lot of other adjectives, but you get the point. And the scary thing is, I'm just in the relatively infant stages of promoting this book. My publisher is planning a full-blown promotion through book store catalogs this summer, and my hope is that the more people read it and like it, they will tell their friends, who will tell their friends, and so on, and so on. So, even though as I'm writing this and the Kobo site now shows the book as ranking #20 in Mystery & Suspense, International and #655 in Mystery & Suspense, and the Amazon site shows the paperback at #3,332,452 (it had peaked at around #500,000 or so a few weeks back), and Barnes and Noble shows it at #1,119,354 (which is where it has pretty much been for the last month or so), my hope is that with more word-of-mouth and more organized promotion, there might be another jump in sales here in the near future.
But I wanted to take this time to sincerely, and from the bottom of my heart, thank all of you who have supported me, who have bought the book, and who have said nice things about it. I have yet to hear from anyone who thought it was a bad book, or even so-so. I'm realistic enough to know that won't last forever, though. But hopefully, those instances will be few and far-between. I really put the best effort I had within me in writing this book, and I hope it pays off in entertaining those of you who read it, and making my dream come true of doing this full-time for a living someday soon. I am blessed to have a wonderful group of family and friends who I sincerely love and cherish more than any money I could even in my wildest dreams hope to make from this little adventure. Money can buy a lot, and give one a lot of freedom, but it cannot buy love or respect, ever. Every kind comment of support or praise I receive I take deeply to my heart, and means more to me than even a writer supposedly talented as I could ever properly express in words. So, once again, thank you and God bless all of you.
